Dry Van
A dry van is a type of semi-trailer that’s fully enclosed to protect shipments from outside elements. Designed to carry palletized, boxed, or loose freight, dry vans aren’t temperature-controlled (unlike refrigerated “reefer” units) and can’t carry oversized shipments (unlike flatbed trailers).

Steep Deck
A step deck trailer has no sides roof, or doors, resembling a platform. This type of trailer is a semi-trailer that has two deck levels, with the higher, shorter one positioned closer to the front.

Flat Bed
A flatbed is a trailer with a flattened hauling platform, and most can be loaded from the top, sides, and rear. They come in several different styles with various features to handle everything from building materials and industrial equipment to aircraft parts and mobile homes.

Reefer
In trucking, a “reefer” is a refrigerated trailer that gets attached to a semi-truck in order to transport perishables and other temperature-sensitive goods. Reefers may also be used for heated goods.

Hotshot Trucking
Hotshot trucking involves hauling smaller, more time-sensitive LTL loads within a specific timeframe, and usually to a single customer or location. Hotshot loads are usually delivered using medium-duty trucks that pull flatbed trailers.
